Common Entrance
All the keys to a building operate Common Entrance doors.
| Keyed Alike Group
A number of various lock types all operating on one key.
| Master Key
A group of locks each with an individual key but also with a master key which opens all locks.
| Grand Master Key
A group of locks where all doors operate with individual keys but are also arranged in groups that operate with a group master key. All groups operate with a Grand Master Key.

Master Keying and Keying Alike
The principle where a series of locks may have a Master Key which opens all the locks in a series whilst each individual lock still retains it own key is now well understood. However with modern technology applied to the laborious calculations the risk of crossovers and other security issues is fully understood at Morlands. It also means that in many cases the ‘fee’ for the chart calculation and creation is in many cases is either waived or kept to the minimum. Another aspect is the creation of sets of locks which all operate on one key, again with the security crossover aspect virtually eliminated. Therefore the traditional skills of the locksmith combine with the convienience of modern technology.

Key Making
Long before computers Morlands were making keys using specialist German made machines that were capable of producing keys from databases and card indexes. As the computer technology advanced the company wasted no time in interfacing the new breed of CNC key cutting equipment with Morlands already large and unique database.Of course that doesn’t mean that we have lost the traditional skills. We are capable and are frequently required to make up keys to early locks from the Victorian era and before.

Locks are very enduring mechanisms. They serve well for many years without the slightest attention. That is until the day, sometimes a generation or two after the original installation, a failure occurs and some repairs and or restoration is required especially if scars are to be avoided if a modern lock were to be installed in its place. In this instance we are proud to take on the traditional interpretation of the word locksmith and make or repair the unit back to functionality.
